Humans are resistant to change. We like to wake up and know our world hasn’t drastically changed. We accept innovation and disruptive change only when it is convenient and essential to our lives, something which is seldom the case.

Providing the incentive and level playing field for these heroes to take risk is why we created the X PRIZE Foundation, to encourage the spirit of creating radical breakthroughs that can benefit humanity.

There is a cadre of men and women who dream of bringing about radical breakthrough in the social sector, to reinvent how society functions. It is perhaps, a much more ambitious goal than flying into space or designing new technology. We see and hear of some of these individuals and their organizations from time to time and we get a sense that it is a messy world, but not much else is known of how this ecosystem and the players in them function and interact.

The World that Changes the Worldhas put together for the first time, a holistic and comprehensive map of and insights into the social world. It’s a unique effort by 21 authors located across the globe who have managed to put their thoughts in a structure and manner that flows seamlessly from chapter to chapter. If there is an X PRIZE for collaborative thought leadership of the social ecosystem, this book would get it.
